Davis Mountains State Park and Fort Davis National Historic Site feature connecting hiking trails, bird- and wildlife-viewing spots, and insight into life for early settlers of this hardscrabble countryside.
We are just down the road from Fort Davis’ best-kept secret, the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center, where you'll find more hiking trails, botanical gardens, and butterfly- and bird-watching areas.
Marfa, Alpine, Balmorhea, and Marathon are a short drive away and offer museums, art galleries, fishing holes, and more dining options. You might see javelina, pronghorn, red-tailed hawks, or even a golden eagle along the scenic highways connecting these communities.
At the end of the day, return home to Mountain Trails Lodge, watch for birds and wildlife, sip a cold drink in the shade, and relax in the fresh mountain air.

We think we're the best place to stay in Fort Davis, but don't take our word for it! Here is what recent guests had to say about us:
"This was our second time staying here and we loved it. Jenny was nice and accommodating; when we asked for a cabin facing the mountainside, she had no problem obliging us. The cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy. What you see is what you get. We enjoyed sitting outside stargazing, especially after attending the star party at the McDonald Observatory. We recommend this location while in the Fort Davis area. We'll definitely be back."
"Loved it. There is so much to experience here. Very educational experience for all. The great place to take the family. So much to explore and see and do. This is a must see adventure for the whole family a couple or just someone who wants to go solo."
"What a great place to call home while visiting this part of Texas! Just outside of town, clean, and to be able to sit on the porch and watch the sun rise, or a storm roll in, priceless. We'll be back!"
